I have done some soul searching and figured something out.... When i am low on funds and tell myself that i should NOT buy anything, i deliberately go and do the opposite. See below pics:
These are great shoes. Great for work. Great at half price too. $56.00 delivered. Top End brand ( i still have a pair of this brand from 5 yrs ago. Boy, have they seen a few things.. ;)
Last purchase, but certainly not least...an Alannah Hill corresspondence set. There is history in this purchase. When i went to Sydney a while back i saw this and loved it. It was a bit pricey though at $100.00. So, i was responsible and put it back.
However, by chance i stumbled across it and have bought it for $50 delivered. My first Alannah Hill item, ahhh, this is a sweet, sweet moment.
If i wasn't so happy with my purchases, i might very well be dissapointed in myself!

Hang on, did i just hear John Howard say 'puffed up uterus'??

Im scared.

By the way..
I think i am using an American wall calender- apparently next month is father's day?? I was freaked out for a while, for the last 25yrs i had thought it was in September- why hadnt anyone told me of my mistake? Had they suddenly changed the month? Surely there should be a notice of some sort?
It was then that the penny dropped.
Happy days..!

The Godfather
I am, for the first time, being introduced to the wide, wide world of ....The Godfather. So far, i am up to No.2. It is ok, not entirely what i expected (it's amazingly loooooonnnnngg) BUT what i have noticed and what I MUST share with you, is the possible appearance of Manwel (bad spelling i'm sure) from Fawlty Towers. Surely it is him who plays the landlord?? And it can't be a coincidence that when he appears it is largely in a commical manner?
I know I could check the case to confirm or deny this speculation, but i cant really be arsed. I kind of like the idea that it is him ( because...there is too much butter on those trays!)

I really want..
this Fuji Finepix camera. It's pink and cute! I was showing Brett this pretty pink camera and he couldn't understand why i had to have that one. He is a summary of our conversation......
'Why do you want that camera, why not others?' he asked
'This one is pink' I replied
'So...?'
'But it's pretty. It's pink.'
'And that is important?'
'Yes. I am aware that it is superficial. But, their marketing has worked. I want a pink camera for no other reason than it's a preeettttty colour.'
'Right. Well, at least you acknowledge it then.'
Oh, the important stuff...
It is way better then my previous camera which was only 2mp. It has 6.3 mp and 3 x Zoom. It's compact (and pink)

They're not sooo bad after all
Ok, i will admitt it. I like frozen meals. When my world is in chaos and i cant go home for lunch (yes, i work that close to home)i will generally get a frozen meal. And you know what? They are sooo much better than, lets say, 5 years ago. Spefically, i like the Lean Cuisine Steamed Meals (Chicken and asparagus). It is a fairly big meal and there is actual chicken in it (and more then 1 piece). I KID YOU NOT. It even has the texture and taste of chicken. I know, odd.
The Thai green curry (in a bowl) is OK, but nothing beats the steamed chicken.
So there you have it.

'The next thing on my list' by Jill Smolinski
I cannot recommend this book enough. I am only half way through and know it will be one of my favourites. Yes, it is 'çhic lit'(not that there is anything wrong with that), but also, it has a deeper side that allows you to develop a relationship with the main character. There is constant change throughout the book which also keeps you entretained.
It has been too long since i have felt this way about a book.
I really *heart* this book.
On another note, i really disliked reading 'The Notebook' by Nicholas Sparkes. I absolutely adored the movie, thus i chased down the book relentlessy. Now, i am a firm believer that the book is ALWAYS better than the movie, BUT in this case I was...well, I was wrong. The movie is soooo much better. The book only seems to skim the story and you miss out on many great moments from the movie. For 'Notebook' novices, i must insist that you read the book first- it could only serve to make the movie better!

Overheard in the street
Picture two really rough looking people (minus a couple of teeth). One guy, one girl, definetly NOT upstanding members of society. I am happily walking along, looking all 'officey' and this is what i hear:
Feral guy: 'So what your saying is that your money is your money, and MY money is your money?'
Skanky girl: It doesnt matter what i bought, your were in F*ckin jail anyway!'
And they probably think this is a normal conversation to have...

As you can probably tell,
I have another essay to do. This one is on 'The Dead' by James Joyce. A Much better topic than my previous essay on Parisian prose poetry. Yes, i am doing everything but the essay, however last night i was up until 2:00 working on it. What a great way to spend a saturday night. An essay and Crocodile Dundee. I love Crocodile Dundee for these reasons:
1. He conveyed Aussies in a funny, largely incorrect, light. For example, not once have I ever called anyone a 'pelican'. Ever. Im just saying.
2. His innocence. Seriously, we are not that gullible. Im fairly certain that most Aussies can see the difference between a 'real woman' and a 'transvestite' (especially the one in the movie)

Discovering Etsy
I love exploring the links on people's sites and seeing where they lead me. Not long ago i was introduced to Etsy and i love it. It is kind of like a cross between Ebay and a market.
So far i have purchased a great hair set off Sarah , which is soo cute! My niece is going to love it! And (another) eye pillow . It's different to my others as its filled with rice, allowing it to be heated or cooled. So you see, i had to buy it! (Also, i love the phrase. What can i say?)

I'm above average, thanks for asking!
When the Uni posts assignment results, they put your (my) mark and the class average. Up until now i i have been at least .5 of a mark above average, but due to m last assigment i am now 2.5 marks above average.
I have never been so happy to be ever so slightly above average! I have been (somewhat) vindicated!
Just thought you should know this.
Kick ass!

Must have
Misc.
Tonight i kicked butt at tennis! I think it had a lot to do with my 'pre-menstrualness' but im ok with that. Surely i deserve at least one benefit??!
On another note, Brett has put a colour in my hair- and ladies, he is really good at it. This is the ONLY guy i know who will colour my hair on par with a hair dresser.
I have been ever so slightly changing my routines. For example:
1. Hair colour. Was blonde, now on it's way to 'Golden Brown'- a slight change, but change non the less!
2. I have changed coffee! Yep, no more Nescafe! Im now at the mercy of Robert Timms!
3. Yes, yes i am wearing the sleep masks. I have approx 10, but had no idea why as i didnt really use them. Well, not anymore!
4. Am attemptng to be more oraganised for Uni. Have started a filing system and fully *intend* to continue in this manner.
p.s- my scalp is burnng......

The mouth of babes
What a great way to start a sunday....
Brett's nephew Jordan was over this morning, he's about 9 years old. I hadn't gotten out of bed yet, however i did eventually stumble to the kitchen. Jordan looked at me and enquired, 'Did you just get out of bed?' 'Yes' i replied, and then he asked 'Is that why you look a little bit scary?'
I laughed and replied with 'Yes, yes that it why i look a little bit scary' because it was true. I did look a little bit scary.
In my defence though, i had drank a little too much wine and was not feeling the best.
But, how funny.

Dylan Moran
Tomorrow night Brett & I are off to the big, bad city of Sydney to see this fine young gentleman, Dylan Moran. You may have seen him in the british tv comedy series Black Books.
You know when you see bands or comedians adverstised and you think that you would like to go and see them, but never ending doing so? Well not this time! I made the effort and tracked down some tickets. This just goes to show how funny he is. Really. Hilarious!
To top it off I am having tomorrow off work. Granted i still have to go to Uni first thing, but after that i am going to shop and laugh until i pee myself.
Do you see many comedians? I love seeing them. Probably even more so than seeing a band. I find that it is one of the only occasions that i am within a large group of strangers and EVERYONE is laughing and having a great time(not at me!). The crowd is united in hilarity! Ok yes, now i am sounding a bit lame BUT you get my point.
Kick ass!
