Fork in mouth disease

Earlier tonight Possum and i went out to dinner, and you know what i thought about?? How many people have used the same cutlery as i did. Do i know these people? Were they happy or said when they used said cutlery? And the list goes on......

Then, i drank some more wine and i didnt think about it anymore.

Football is on, must go!

Have a great night!

It's my possum's birthday!

Happy birthday possum, have a bloody great day!

There's a funny story here....

For the whole year that Brett was 26, he actually thought he was 27. I wasnt until just before his 27th birthday that he realised his mistake. When people had asked how old he was he was answering 27. All the time. He now thinks that he has lost a year of his life. I agree, and laugh about it constantly. Why? because this is one smart guy. He doesnt do silly things like this often, these types of things are generally left up to me.

Every year i get milage out of the same joke. And as we all know, this rarely happens.

So possum, Happy 29th Birthday!

Colour me apple!

I'm fairly certain that I need this Apple Cosie. I constantly suffer from having to eat bruised and slighly malformed apples and am sure that this cosie from www.etsy.com will rid me of further apple incidents. It's a bargain too at $7.00.

And yes, it certainly helps that it's pink.

Im not sure about the pear cosie. A banana one would be a better idea.

Thoughts?

(BTW, i am totally serious)

Near perfect....

Today has been near perfect. Since going to Uni, i have realised they importance of time- what i have and how i use it. I used to do soooo much crap. Quantity, but not quality. Seriously. I feel so stupid for all the time i did nothing but sit on my ass. However, i am changing this though and since i am on holidays for a few weeks with nothing that I HAVE to read, and nothing that is due, i am enjoying every minute doing things that i dont normally do anymore. Not that there things are overly great or unusual, but i have the choice.

So far today i have done some housework, some grocery shopping, bought some socks (that say i love shopping!), rented season 1 of Frasier and.....Erin Brockovich! Yes, i have been yearning to rewatch Erin for a while now and have finally found it and it was even better then i remembered! I have been curled on the couch covered in blankets (its winter and cooollldd), eating 2 minute noodles and trying to remember how to spell Erin's last name for this post and i have loved every minute of it.

Must make some tea and get back to it. Hope your having a great day too :)

You know your a nerd when you really want....

these 2 shirts. I saw them and laughed. A lot.
They are from www.threadless.com

If you cant make out the writing, please click on the pic to enlarge. It is well worth it.

I have looked, but Australia doesn't seem to stock quality items like this. So, so sad. I may just have to purchase them from the States.

What every girl needs

As you may or may not know, i recently returned from a mini shopping/studying trip. I bought the usual girly things of clothes, underwear, books, etc BUT what i didnt expect to buy was a giant tea cup set. Yep. My own Alice in Wonderland cup and saucer which says 'Drink me'.

As soon as i saw it, i had to have it. Even though i would have to be extremely careful with it and would therefore make my life difficult as i would take it as carryon luggage, i bought it.

Oh, and the clincher? It's pink.

Here is my attempt of a self portrait with this wonderful, wonderful tea cup.

Is it wrong that i am this excited over a cup?

Shit yeah!

I am offically on one weeks holiday! Well, it's a study/shopping holiday in the cold (and apparently rainy) city of Melbourne. Brett has to go their for a Uni subject, so i thought i would tag along. The downside though, is that i have an exam the day after i get back ;(

Oh well. At least i am not at work. I can't believe how burnt out i am. Basically, i want to head-butt everyone i work with (not a good look on reception)

On a lighter note, i have been sussing out my shopping options (thanks Karina!)
It turns out that i am only 548 meters from the direct factory outlets, or 11 minuntes on foot (if you want to be specific.....!)

Im sooo excited! My aim is to find some clothes that are not the generic pieces that i see on everybody in my town. Is it just me, or a small businesses being forced out of the equation??

So there you have it. I'm going to go shopping while Brett is slaving away at Uni.

p.s- Did i mention that the hotel not only has a gym, pool and sauna, BUT has its own beauty salon and spa? Bliss.

;)

Stu-Stu-stutter

I used to stutter. A fair bit. Well, alot and mainly in large groups.

I am sharing this for two reasons:

1. My niece has started to do it and

2. To show that even without any help, you can cease doing it.

I say 'cease' because I dont know how, why or when I stopped. It was kind of like one day, I just ran out of petrol, but instead of petrol, I ran out of stutter.

I certainly didnt stop from lack of trying. I tried for as long as I was afflicted and it never did change a damn thing. People used to try and help though, half heartedly. But what can you do really? Tell someone to take a deep breath? To 'sound' out the words? To not be nervous? To just not do it? I dont think so. And to the people who used to say those things to me? You think that I haven't already tried that?

Oh how I dreaded high school speeches. And the thing was, I would write a great speech, on paper it would get top marks, but after the 'presentation' the marks would dwindle. My friends were great though, they never made a big deal out of it, mainly because it rarely happended around them. It was more of a nervous, audience issue.

One thing I do remember and love though was one day I had a speech to give. It was year 9 English. The teacher would go through the class randomly and pick a name. This was pure hell. I could deal with alphabet order, my last name starts with a 'W' so i could relax for a while, but NO, not with random! But you know what, after working myself into such a state, the teacher never did call me up. I know he didnt forget, I think he was being nice. He knew I had done the work, he knew I understood the content (maybe better than others) but still, my name never did get called.

So when my niece stutters, I will never say anything 'helpful.' Instead I will read with her and never point it out, because she can't help it just like I couldn't.

My head hurts.

I have a migrain. I had this one for 2 days now. It's hormonal. It's crap. I feel like my head is going to explode, or, that i am going to vomit. Lovely. Every month.
Argh.

I heart Codiene!

Any suggestions? I'm running out of options and could possibly labelled a 'pharmacist'.

Hungover

Is it just me, or does anyone else like to do laundry when they are hungover?

Maybe it's the whole cleansing theme? Maybe i think that by cleansing the clothes I am also cleansing myself of the enemy?

Or maybe not.

Maybe I just like doing laundry.

Random

Here's a few little tidbits that may or not be tantilising

1. I do not 'hum' normal tunes in my head. They are always odd songs. For example, currently I have going 'On top of old smokey, all covered with cheese, I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed.' Is this even a song? Other favourites are Christmas carols, particularly 'Winter Wonderland' Or Kelly Clarkson. I dont even listen to her.

Go figure.

2. The nice people at Virgin Credit Cards have offered to increase my limit! That is so nice of them. Just in time for my trip to Melbourne..... ;)

Funny sidenote: It is signed 'Ace of Cards.' haha

3. I think I look good today. This is not to say that I normally dont look good, but I have taken special care and I think that it has paid off.

4. Brett has an interview for a job in Tasmania. Normally, i'd be hesitant about moving, but if it does get offered i'd be completely up for it. Why? I'm ready, thats why. Now, I know they have deadly jumping ants there but they are in the bush and we would be in the city, so thats OK with me.

Oh, Ebay.....I *heart* u!

I have done some soul searching and figured something out.... When i am low on funds and tell myself that i should NOT buy anything, i deliberately go and do the opposite. See below pics:

These are great shoes. Great for work. Great at half price too. $56.00 delivered. Top End brand ( i still have a pair of this brand from 5 yrs ago. Boy, have they seen a few things.. ;)

Last purchase, but certainly not least...an Alannah Hill corresspondence set. There is history in this purchase. When i went to Sydney a while back i saw this and loved it. It was a bit pricey though at $100.00. So, i was responsible and put it back.
However, by chance i stumbled across it and have bought it for $50 delivered. My first Alannah Hill item, ahhh, this is a sweet, sweet moment.

If i wasn't so happy with my purchases, i might very well be dissapointed in myself!

What??

Hang on, did i just hear John Howard say 'puffed up uterus'??

Why would he ever need to utter these words?

Im scared.

Sunday, May 27, 2007

By the way..

I think i am using an American wall calender- apparently next month is father's day?? I was freaked out for a while, for the last 25yrs i had thought it was in September- why hadnt anyone told me of my mistake? Had they suddenly changed the month? Surely there should be a notice of some sort?

It was then that the penny dropped.

Happy days..!

The Godfather

I am, for the first time, being introduced to the wide, wide world of ....The Godfather. So far, i am up to No.2. It is ok, not entirely what i expected (it's amazingly loooooonnnnngg) BUT what i have noticed and what I MUST share with you, is the possible appearance of Manwel (bad spelling i'm sure) from Fawlty Towers. Surely it is him who plays the landlord?? And it can't be a coincidence that when he appears it is largely in a commical manner?

I know I could check the case to confirm or deny this speculation, but i cant really be arsed. I kind of like the idea that it is him ( because...there is too much butter on those trays!)

I really want..

this Fuji Finepix camera. It's pink and cute! I was showing Brett this pretty pink camera and he couldn't understand why i had to have that one. He is a summary of our conversation......
'Why do you want that camera, why not others?' he asked
'This one is pink' I replied
'So...?'
'But it's pretty. It's pink.'
'And that is important?'
'Yes. I am aware that it is superficial. But, their marketing has worked. I want a pink camera for no other reason than it's a preeettttty colour.'
'Right. Well, at least you acknowledge it then.'

Oh, the important stuff...
It is way better then my previous camera which was only 2mp. It has 6.3 mp and 3 x Zoom. It's compact (and pink)

They're not sooo bad after all

Ok, i will admitt it. I like frozen meals. When my world is in chaos and i cant go home for lunch (yes, i work that close to home)i will generally get a frozen meal. And you know what? They are sooo much better than, lets say, 5 years ago. Spefically, i like the Lean Cuisine Steamed Meals (Chicken and asparagus). It is a fairly big meal and there is actual chicken in it (and more then 1 piece). I KID YOU NOT. It even has the texture and taste of chicken. I know, odd.

The Thai green curry (in a bowl) is OK, but nothing beats the steamed chicken.

So there you have it.

'The next thing on my list' by Jill Smolinski

I cannot recommend this book enough. I am only half way through and know it will be one of my favourites. Yes, it is 'çhic lit'(not that there is anything wrong with that), but also, it has a deeper side that allows you to develop a relationship with the main character. There is constant change throughout the book which also keeps you entretained.

It has been too long since i have felt this way about a book.
I really *heart* this book.

On another note, i really disliked reading 'The Notebook' by Nicholas Sparkes. I absolutely adored the movie, thus i chased down the book relentlessy. Now, i am a firm believer that the book is ALWAYS better than the movie, BUT in this case I was...well, I was wrong. The movie is soooo much better. The book only seems to skim the story and you miss out on many great moments from the movie. For 'Notebook' novices, i must insist that you read the book first- it could only serve to make the movie better!
